What is RDLearning?
RDLearning is a database of all post-qualifying health-related training courses available in the UK with particular emphasis on research. The database covers workshops, conferences and short courses ranging from higher education institutions, professional bodies, research networks and training organisations. This new resource (April 2002) is funded by the National Institute for Health Research.
How do I use RDLearning?
We hope RDLearning is user friendly.
- Wherever you go on the web site, you can always return to the homepage by clicking on the RDLearning logo or search by clicking on the Search logo.
- You can search for courses, by simply clicking on Institutions A-Z and searching through the list or by clicking on different categories, such as conference or workshop, or taught or research courses.
- The database has an excellent search facility, and you can search for a course by organisation, title, qualification, area or simply by a freetext search.
- Once you find a course, you will find there are plenty of details. There is generally an email address, contact telephone number and link to the web site We include venues, prices, qualification information and entry requirements, where applicable.
- There is a facility to contact the RDLearning team via the web site on the Contact Us page, plus if you are impressed with what you see, then click on Tell A Friend, and email them our details.
- We also have useful links to our two sister services, RDFunding (for funding opportunities) and RDDirect (a telephone/web site advice line for researchers), plus a link to the Department of Health web site
What if I see a course that I am interested in?
The navigation through out the site is by 'drilling down' on the item you are interested in. The course detail is the lowest level of information given, with links to the relevant organisation (where available). Once you see a course you are interested in, check any details on the organisations web site (there should be a link from our page) and then contact the course provider who will be able to verify all the details. We always suggest you check with the course provider before applying or registering for a course.
Hopefully you will have found a
course that matches your requirements and you will be on your way.
Who can use RDLearning?
RDLearning contains courses which are aimed towards postgraduate students and professionals working in health care. We have such a diverse range of courses, that they will be something to suit everyone's requirements and interests.
Some course require qualifications,
others will accept practical experience, there are some aimed at beginners
with no prior knowledge, others aimed at professionals with years of experience.
Whatever your needs or experience, you should be able to find a suitable course
on RDLearning.
How do I fund my course?
Though information about funding post-qualification courses is outside the brief of RDLearning, we have put together some information, which may be useful to potential students. This information can be found on RDFunding, which is our sister organisation, at http://www.rdfunding.org.uk/Background/Student.asp
